Les allocations familiales

the girls just wanna have fun

One thing I like about the system here is when you have more than one child you will receive a monetary benefit from the government. We called it here CAF (caisse allocations familiales) or cash allocations for family and every family can receive this benefit regardless of their work status or income. Last week, we visited the office to register la petite as our second child and we've submitted all the needed requirements like, birth certificate, bank account no. etc. to avail this benefit. So every month I will receive an amount (below) and it goes directly to my bank account and one good thing is we will have this benefit until the children are of age 20.

the allocation benefits for family with:

2 children: 123.92 euro
3 children: 282.70 euro
4 children: 441.48 euro
additional child each: +158.78 euro

So now I see why French families or couples have more than one child, usually I see them having 2 or 3 children. Unlike in Poland where the tradition and fashion remains to be at least to have one child. Just like MK as an only child.

On the other hand, if I have to think of the allocation and convert it into pesos, that's a lot and in 5 years time I can build a house in our province, ;) Bon, I have to wait then.

They do the same here in Germany; if a child is born, the mother can apply for a monthly stipend even with one child. It makes sense that the tax is 19%---helps pay for a lot of govt. programs! LOL.

How're the tax rate in France, Shan?

ah, tax here is a nightmare. they take 25% of the monthly salary income and there is also an annual tax based on one's annual revenue income which is huge and when i've computed it, it's worth of MK's one month net salary.

so gov. got a lot of money to fund their programs too.
