Goodbye dysmenorrhea

I was chatting with my relatives earlier back in Cebu and I know that one of my nieces was in the room resting because she got cramps on her belly especially during the first day of her period. So I was prompted to write this thing.

I had dysmenorrhea (a painful menstruation) for years and I remember each time I have a period my mother always gave me a bottle of black beer or called it "serbesa negra". She told me that if I drink it will make the blood out more and more and will ease me up. Well, I had tried this but for me it did not work on my cramps, but one thing it worked well for me, I began to like the beer as early as in my teens. And obviously I love beers today!

So during my teens I had suffered this pain, so unpleasant that I don't want to move or do, all I want is to rest, but if it's during school days I force myself to go to school because I don't want to be absent from the class anyway. And I can't forget the time when I collapsed because of this cramp just right in front of my teacher. It was my Physics laboratory class and we were sitted all and in the big table my teacher demonstrating the various tools, etc. I suddenly bowed my head and became unconscious so they brought me to the clinic. When I was awaken they gave me something to take, 250mg Midol and since then this pain reliver became my bestfriend during the times I have my period.

Some people said that dysmenorrhea will be gone after giving birth. I prove them right. When I have my period after giving birth to la grande I didn't feel any pain in my belly. After two months of giving birth I had seen my OB-Gyne for a compulsory check-up and I had the time to asked her about the cramps that is gone for good and she said, she had cleaned and had removed some blood from my uterus. I didn't see her doing this thing because after giving birth to la grande I was very tired from the long labor and right after the anesthetist came to me and he said to inject few anesthesia then seconds after I was sleeping. MK was in the room but he never saw the process as there were four nurses surrounding me. When I woke up the doctor told me that she had removed the placenta and had cleaned inside and that everything is okay. And so when I was giving birth to la petite, good thing also that I did not have this hemorrhage and so I was awake all the time. There I saw the doctor cleaning inside my womb and I was surprised because I saw her arm inside almost up to her elbow. Whew! I felt her hand moving inside because my epidural anesthesia began to subside and I'd even felt when she did the stiching. Aww!
Now, I'm happy that I have escaped this dysmenorrhea... forever.
Bon, c'était une bonne expérience. (Well, it was a good experience.)

Ah, Shan, I'm glad you don't have to suffer from dysmenorrhea anymore. It's not something any woman would want to experience every month until menopause, you know? Good thing there's Midol to help ease the pain! ;)
